ABSTRACT
Accredited Social Health Activists are the frontline interface between India’s public health system and the community. Their work involves maternal and child health promotion, immunization mobilization, disease surveillance, health education, family counselling, and repeated household-level follow-up. Although their contribution to primary health care is substantial, the psychological cost of this labour is often insufficiently examined. The present paper explores perceived work stress, coping mechanisms, and job satisfaction among ASHA workers through a psychology-oriented framework. The study is primarily based on secondary literature, government documents, and published studies, supplemented with a structured analytical dataset of 120 ASHA workers to demonstrate statistical relationships among the core variables.
