ABSTRACT
The rapid proliferation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and automation technologies in India's Information Technology Enabled Service (ITeS) sector is fundamentally altering the human–machine relationship at the workplace. While automation promises significant productivity dividends, it simultaneously displaces routine and semi-routine job roles, generating workforce anxiety and diminishing cognitive autonomy. The present study investigates the pros and cons of AI-driven automation and the ethical obligations that accrue to employers when workers are displaced or reskilled. With job satisfaction as the dependent variable and AI-related cognitive factors (perceived autonomy, reskilling opportunity, ethical transparency, and decision-making freedom) as independent variables, the study surveyed 1,000 employees across 10 ITeS companies in Bengaluru using stratified random sampling.
