ASSESSING TOURISM POTENTIAL IN PUNJAB THROUGH TOURISM ADMINISTRATION AND PROMOTIONAL INITIATIVES
Author: Akhil Aneja, Khushi Sethi

Abstract
Tourism being a multi–sectoral industry, requires a well-planned policy to regulate the activities of other related sectors. Badly managed tourist activities may cause many problems. That is why it has been rightly pointed out that unregulated or unplanned tourism can cause unbalanced social change and skew economic development. It can also generate social tension and cause environmental pollution resulting in distortion of life styles and cultural decay, which are the very foundation on which the tourism is built. The haphazard growth of tourist facilities and injecting of tourist inflow beyond the absorption capacity of a particular place/region leads to the depletion of tourism resources of the country. Therefore, the planned policies and programmes help the nation in developing and promoting its tourism. Thus, keeping in view the significance of policy in the field of tourism, an attempt has been made in this Chapter to study the Tourism Potential of Punjab. Further, a

MERCANTILISM AND TRADE POLICIES IN THE 21ST CENTURY: DO THE TWAIN MEET?
Author: Tanya Goyal

ABSTRACT
Mercantilism argues for government regulation in the economy (especially in trade) to make the nation more powerful at the expense of other nations. This economic theory was in vogue in Europe from the 15th-18th century after which it was replaced by the theory of free trade. But despite continuous efforts by supranational organizations like WTO to liberalize trade, countries still show a pro-export and anti-import attitude. This has been labeled as neo-mercantilism by economists and it is expected to increase further as countries recover from the covid-19 pandemic.
